I’m thrilled to announce that the Marshall Liberal Government is delivering $30 million to complete the Golden Grove Road Stage Two Project, as well as upgrades at three intersections to allow for priority bus movements to reduce the time it takes to access the O-Bahn via public transport. The three intersection upgrades will include Grenfell Road/Golden Grove Road, Milne Road/Golden Grove Road and North East Road/Modbury Avenue/Golden Grove Road.
This project will deliver another election commitment to upgrade Golden Grove Road to improve road safety, reduce travel times and bust congestion. This builds on the $20 million Stage One upgrade which is set to be completed by the end of the year.
With stage 1 creating 65 local jobs, stage 2 is set to create an additional 70 jobs and will focus on the 3.4km stretch of Golden Grove Road from just north of the Yatala Vale Road/Grove Way intersection down to the intersection of Grenfell Road. Stage 2 of the project will deliver:
- Golden Grove Road / The Grove Way / Yatala Vale Road signalised intersection upgrade;
- Right turn lanes at unsignalised junctions;
- On-road bike lanes in each direction;
- Indented bus bays;
- Upgraded road lighting;
- Improved pedestrian facilities.
Further to this, there will be a $6 million resurfacing of the section of Golden Grove Road between North East Road and Park Lake Drive.
These vital road upgrades form part of the Marshall Liberal Government’s record $12.9 billion infrastructure spend over the next four years, more than any other four-year period in South Australia’s history.
