CWMS Update

The Marshall Liberal Government is investing $65 million to transition CWMS households onto the SA Water network.

For several months I have been working closely with the Minister for Environment and Water, the Hon David Speirs MP, to fix the Tea Tree Gully Council's Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS), and I'm thrilled that we have developed a real, long-term solution to fix it.

The Tea Tree Gully Council and previous governments have failed to ensure that the CWMS is properly maintained and it is now beyond the ability of the Council to fix it.

However, this is not a 'get out of jail free' card for the Tea Tree Gully Council, which has been slugging the community for decades and ignoring the needs of those on the CWMS. The Marshall Liberal Government will work with Council to ensure that it makes a fair contribution to this project.

With CWMS fees approaching $900 per year, it's critical that we move quickly. Once transitioned to SA Water, households will save up to $400 per year and receive reliable service, ongoing upgrades and maintenance, and 24/7 customer care.

The Marshall Liberal Government is fixing this 💩and will begin to transition households to SA Water from 2021.
