The Marshall Liberal Government's $96 million upgrade of Modbury Hospital is a step closer to completion with construction of the new operating theatres being fast-tracked.
I was thrilled to visit Modbury Hospital last week with the Minister for Health and Wellbeing, the Hon Stephen Wade MLC, and my colleague Paula Luethen MP, to see up-close the work being done on the upgrade. It's clear that once complete, Modbury Hospital will be the modern local hospital that our community expects and deserves.
Once completed in full, the $96 million upgrade will deliver:
- A four-bed High Dependency Unit
- A new Short Stay General Medical Unit
- A new, purpose built 20-bed Palliative Care Unit
- A new Surgical Unit
- A new Outpatients Department
- An upgraded façade
- Eight new beds in the Extended Emergency Care Unit (already completed)
We're undoing the damage of Transforming Health and making sure our local hospital and the South Australian health system is well-resourced and has the facilities needed to keep our community safe and healthy.
