In a testament to the contribution that all South Australians have made to stop the spread of COVID-19, we have been able to bring forward Step 2 easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
From today, pubs, cinemas, places of worship, beauty salons, and other sites will be permitted to have up to 20 people per room up to a maximum of 80 people throughout their premises, provided that there is 4 square metres per person.
As we progressively ease restrictions, we're following a principles-based approach, which doesn't impose one blanket rule for every business. Instead, COVID-Safe plans are to be completed by businesses and organisations, making sure they adhere to the principles for Step 2.
I know that people are eager for futher restrictions to be eased - I am too. The State Government does not want restrictions to stay in place for one second longer than they need to, however it is important that we continue to follow the advice of our public health experts so that all of our good work is not undone.
